I've been a vegetarian for a good few years now, and my biggest stumbling block is still finding attractive shoes and wallets (I'm such a girl sometimes). I'd been getting around with a disgraceful old wallet for waaaaaay too long, until serendipity took me over to Etsy where I found Quenna's gorgeous handmade big bad wolf wallet.
It's a small thing, I know, but it's such a relief to have finally found a wallet that I love and that I can have that it makes me smile every time I look at it.
...but I've been so busy! What's a girl to do. Let's give this another try, anyhow.
I have web design work lined up till March. Yes, March. That's a nice position for a freelancer to be in. Even though I'm completely booked out though I seem to keep getting dobbed in for more work (*stares hard at husband*).
Today I found out I had to take some wedding stationery photos. The deadline was, oh let me double check, TWO DAYS AGO and no-one told me! I rushed around like a madwoman trying to do what I could in minus 48 hours. Now I'm ready for a drink :)
I think we're ready for a change now though. So many of our friends have left Australia that we don't have the same ties here as we used to, and for now our families are happy and healthy and can get by without us quite happily!
So Andy, me and the puppy are going to pack our suitcases and set off for adventures. We've worked out a budget, given ourselves a 12 month deadline to save our pennies and organise visas, and we're moving overseas, for a few years at least. We're hoping that the Canadians will be kind enough to let us in - we speak (mostly) the same language, the cost of living seems to be comparable, and we seem to get each others sense of humour. We're lucky enough to be able to take our jobs with us (hooray for the internet).
I haven't told my family yet - my mum is going to be very unhappy with me!
We thought Vancouver might be a good destination, but if any of you have suggestions for us I'd love to hear them. We like food, photography, exploring new places and although I've never seen a game I'm fully prepared to love ice hockey.
I went to a photography "workshop" on Friday... it was a very last minute thing. It turned out to be less instructional and more "here are some models, now take some pictures" type deal than I'd been hoping for, but never mind - the girls were lovely and I'll probably work with at least one of them again.
I'm lucky enough to have 4 Alien Bee B800 flash units. They're great, and I love them, but I have so much to learn about how to use them. Tonight we tried to get a moodier kind of light - most of my previous shots have been bright, white background kind of shots.
Two lights, 20o honeycomb grid, same old white background, very patient hubby.

Thanks Jody! I've heard a few people compare Vancouver and Melbourne now, and we've got one or two friend-of-a-friend type... read more
